STAAR TEST IS COMING!
4th & 7th graders will take the Writing STAAR Test on Tuesday, April 20th.
SST will provide state assessments to all students.
The test will be ON CAMPUS on computers. There is no paper-based test this year.
4th and 7th-grade virtual Learners must come to campus to participate in state assessments. We will provide the opportunity for every eligible student to participate, but we will also continue to respect the decision of a parent to have their student learn virtually during the COVID-19 public health crisis. There will be no live sessions on Tuesday, April 20th, all classes will be asynchronous. Only 4th and 7th-grade students will participate on Campus for State Testing.
Please note that students except 4th and 7th graders will not be on campus on Tuesday, April 20th.
What to Bring?
1- Pencil
2- Water bottle
3- Lunch (lunch will be provided, but students can bring their own lunch as well)
4- School Chromebook (if the student has a school Chromebook)
5- Headphone
Please ensure that your child receives enough rest, eats breakfast, and is at school ON TIME. Attendance is very important as it will be the STAAR Assessments.
Please keep reading for some advice about testing!
The Night Before the Testing:
Visualization: Have a conversation with your child about what the day will look like.
Get a good night's sleep. Kids need a full 8 hours of sleep.
Self-Talk: give your child a few phrases that can motivate him/her "I just need to do my best!" "I can do it." "Stay cool."
Answer any fears or questions, your child might have.
Prepare your child’s snacks, pencils, clothes, etc. the night before.
Remind your student to remain focused and no talking/playing during the test
On STAAR Testing Day:
Eat a good, healthy breakfast.
Do relaxing activities like taking deep breaths, tensing muscles, and then relaxing them, talking about something unrelated to STAAR.
Arrive early to school. (Testing will start ASAP)
Please leave cell phones, backpacks, hand-held games, and electronic watches at home.
Wear layers so your child is comfortable at any temperature.
Remain calm and positive.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED TO THE CAMPUS DURING TESTING.
