Objective: IBCs are one of the Career Readiness Indicators
TEC §39.053 requires the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to account for high school students who earn an industry-based certification as one indicator within the student achievement domain of the state’s public school accountability system. The purpose of the IBC list is to identify certifications that prepare students for success in the workforce, military, or postsecondary education. For more information from TEA, please click here:
Highlights of IBCs
- IBCs prepare students for in-demand jobs within the current workforce.
- IBCs are one indicator of career readiness as part of the TEA’s student achievement domain.
- All learning portals, practice tests, and certification tests are purchased by SST at no cost to our students.
IBCs Offerings at SST Sugar Land College Prep High School
The following IBCs are offered depending on the student’s grade level and career pathway.
IBC Learning Portals
Gmetrix.com ( including cadlearning.com) is the main learning portal for students to access the study materials along with practice and actual certification tests. Students can access their accounts through their clever accounts. Cadlearning is not in clever yet but students will be provided with their account credentials access.
GMetrix benefits:
- allows the candidate to become familiar with the method of examination
- completed tests in Testing Mode produce a scored report that can be used as an indication of skill level, areas for improvement, and exam readiness
- can also be used in a Training Mode as a training resource
How does the material work for students in Gmetrix and cad learning?
Students will follow up the following steps:
- Step 1: Students complete all study domains in Gmetrix.
- Step 2: Students take the practice test with a passing rate of at least %70.
However, %80 is recommended.
- Step 3: Students take the actual certification test
Pass rate indicator
The pass rate on a GMetrix test is 700 /1000 (70%), as in an actual MOS exam. It is recommended however that you achieve a pass of 800 points minimum on the practice tests before sitting an exam to ensure adequate preparation.
